Intent of the process

A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established to staff identical or similar positions with varying tenure, language profiles, and employment conditions at DND, including the Canadian Coast Guard.

In line with Treasury Board guidelines, DND adopts a common hybrid work model where employees work at their designated worksite at least 3 days per week, or 60% of their regular schedule. Some positions may require full-time on-site presence.

Education

ED1. Graduation from a two-year post-secondary program with specialization in computer science, information technology, information management, or related field.

  • Indeterminate IT incumbents from certain groups may be deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on education, training, or experience (see original policy notes).
  • Manager may accept an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience as an alternative to the minimum education requirement, with reassessment for other positions.
  • An acceptable combination may refer to a QL 5 qualified military member from a relevant IT occupation; vocational credentials plus relevant work experience will also be considered.
Experience

EX1. Experience providing IM/IT guidance to end users in a workplace or educational setting. EX2. Experience installing and providing technical support of Windows OS (Windows 10/11) in a workplace or educational setting.
