About us:

Franvest Capital Partners is an Edmonton based single-family office that manages a diversified portfolio across direct investments in the franchising sector, as well as real estate, private equity, private debt, and public market securities. We take a long-term, fundamentals-driven approach to investing and capital allocation. By partnering with exceptional operators and fund managers Franvest aims to generate sustainable growth and value creation.

About the Role:

The Investment Analyst will play an integral role in supporting the firm’s investment activities across asset classes. This individual will work directly with senior leadership to evaluate new opportunities, perform detailed financial analysis, and support the execution and monitoring of investments. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical and modeling skills with intellectual curiosity and business acumen.

Key Responsibilities
Investment Analysis & Financial Modeling
  • Build, maintain, and update detailed financial and valuation models (DCF, IRR, LBO, comparable company analysis, precedent transactions, etc.) for prospective and existing investments.
  • Analyze operating metrics within portfolio companies, key performance indicators, and valuation trends across target sectors—particularly within franchising, real estate, and private markets.
  • Provide actionable guidance to management based on detailed performance analysis.
Deal Execution Support
  • Assist in due diligence, transaction structuring, and closing processes for direct investments and fund allocations.
  • Coordinate with external advisors, consultants, and management teams to gather and analyze information.
Research & Competitive Intelligence
  • Conduct equity research and industry analysis to identify investment opportunities and monitor portfolio performance.
  • Prepare written research briefs, thematic reports, and benchmarking analyses on relevant sectors and companies.
Board & Portfolio Support
  • Prepare and evaluate board materials, investment memoranda, and quarterly portfolio updates.
  • Track operating and financial performance of portfolio companies and funds, highlighting key trends and risks.
Strategic and Ad Hoc Projects
  • Support capital allocation decisions, portfolio construction initiatives, and ad hoc research requests from senior management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in investment banking, private equity, asset management, corporate development, or similar analytical role.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, implement, or support business software solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with AI tools, data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), or coding (e.g., Python, SQL) is a strong plus.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills; able to manage multiple priorities with discretion and professionalism.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, high personal integrity, and a genuine interest in private equity and business building.
