  • Review and issue finalized Shop Drawings.
  • Coordinate and mentor junior staff.
  • Liaise with clients and contractors.
  • Assist in preparing proposals for future projects.

We are seeking an Intermediate Roadway Designer to join our Transportation team, based in Ontario. You will work on various roadway and highway projects.

What a day at EXP has in store for you
  • Prepare preliminary design reports (PDR), design criteria, and detailed designs for new and rehabilitation projects involving highways, arterial, regional, collector, and local roads.
  • Develop preliminary designs for CADD staff and review drawings for compliance with industry and client standards.
  • Prepare Contract Specifications, Tender Documents, and Applications for Agency Approvals.
  • Review and issue finalized Shop Drawings.
  • Coordinate and mentor junior staff within the division.
  • Liaise with clients, sub-consultants, contractors, and construction supervision staff.
  • Assist in preparing proposals for future projects.
What your experience looks like
  • Proficiency with MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D; experience with earlier versions of MicroStation and InRoads is a plus.
  • Strong skills in ProjectWise, Word, Excel, and MS Project.
  • Highly proficient with MTO’s CPS and HiCo software applications.
  • Knowledge of MTO and Metrolinx standards, including municipal and regional design standards.
  • Experience with cost estimating, quantity preparation, and writing specifications.
  • Track record of gaining approvals from MTO, roads authorities, and environmental agencies.
  • Independent, organized, motivated team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and deliver projects under tight schedules in a fast-paced environment.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience.
