Sony Pictures Imageworks is seeking an Intermediate Production Coordinator to join our team in our Vancouver location.

Summary

The Intermediate Production Coordinator reports directly to the Production Department Manager. The role supports APM(s)/DPM(s)/Producer(s) by coordinating a team of artists on a show in one, possibly two departments. The ideal candidate must have coordinating experience in VFX Feature Film, CG Animation, and/or Game production, with good people and self management skills. A minimum of 2 years experience working in VFX Feature Film, CG animation Feature Film, or Game production is required.

What you'll be doing
  • Preparing playlists for team touchbases and rounds
  • Setting team calendar for regular meeting cadences (Google)
  • Tracking shot data and reporting into tracking/asset management database (Shotgrid)
  • Note taking in team touchbases and rounds
  • Potential for client communication in reviews and emails
  • Communicating Supervisor/Client comments from show dailies/shot reviews to artists (having a good command of technical shot analysis is a bonus)
  • Liaising between artists, leads and supervisors
  • Facilitating artist/supervisor needs (workstations, tablets, software, meals, etc)
  • Cross departmental communication of kickbacks and notes affecting other departments
  • Tracking inventory and driving workflow to hit artist bid days and quota
  • Problem solving with team supervisors/lead and APM to ensure artists are hitting bid days and quota
  • Partnering with supervisors/leads and APM in evaluating artist abilities for shot assignments
  • Dynamic problem solving and timely escalation of any potential missed targets
  • Mentor more junior Production team members
  • Motivating your team and ensuring morale is high (creative ideas for adding fun into the day!)
  • Being aware of all hours worked within the team to monitor wellbeing and energy levels
  • Assisting to request Artist overtime, ensuring requested hours are appropriate
What we need to see

Have at least 1 year as a Production Coordinator in VFX Feature Film, CG animation Feature Film, or Game production.

Technical and Operational Skills
  • Have a solid understanding of the frontend/backend workflow for digital production, specific to Assets, Layout, Animation, CFX, FX, &/or Lighting/Comp teams
  • Have a solid understanding of production VFX and CG or Game scheduling
  • Have a solid understanding of Shotgrid
  • Be able to navigate who to speak to for artist queries relating to hardware and software license issues
  • Tracking of shot work and work within bid days and quota targets, with minimal support
  • Proactively schedule team assignments and flag potential inventory and delivery challenges
  • Willingness to learn and master all imageworks scheduling & tracking software
  • Acquiring resources & elements required to complete shot production within your assigned team
  • Diffusing inventory challenges
  • Ability to set up sweatbox or review rooms independently, and know who to contact in case of technical issues. If remote, know the process for remote connection
People and Self-Management Skills
  • Have the ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment
  • Be proactive, self-motivated, and the driver for your team
  • Providing direct support to artist teams
  • Communicating with Creative teams while keeping Production informed
  • Depending on the team, you may be required to interact with the client regularly. Client interactions must be professional and timely. Interactions with the client are included but not limited to: reviews, email communication, and notes.
