What you can expect to do here
  • Conduct coastal analysis studies (statistical summaries of meteorological and oceanographic data, current circulation modeling, wave generation and transformation modeling, harbour agitation modeling, sediment transport and coastline evolution modeling, flood and erosion hazard mapping, etc.).
  • Design coastal protection structures (e.g. breakwaters, revetments, groynes, cobble beaches, beach nourishment, nature-based designs etc.).
  • Carry out field work for condition assessments, instrument deployment, and construction monitoring.
  • Prepare design drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare technical reports for engineering studies, development of coastal structures and environmental analyses.
  • Participate in the preparation of proposals.
  • Perform project management related tasks related to scope, budget and schedule.
  • Participate in and coordinate meetings with clients to follow up on activities and deliverables.
What you’ll bring to WSP
  • Degree in coastal, environmental, hydraulic, or civil engineering; with directed studies in coastal, port or ocean engineering. Master’s or PhD is preferred.
  • 5+ years of work experience in the field of coastal engineering or related disciplines.
  • Current registration or eligibility to apply as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada.
  • Proven ability to conduct independent analyses, develop visualizations, and interpret physical processes by analyzing geospatial time series data.
  • Skills with common engineering software such as AutoCAD, and programming languages such a Matlab, Python or R.
Compensation

Salary range (in British Columbia): $82,900 - $114,000.

The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The salary range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
