Your opportunity

The Department of Economics at the University of Toronto ranks among the top economics departments internationally, and is number one in Canada. Nearly seventy percent of all students take at least one course in economics during their undergraduate studies, and our enthusiastic faculty is committed to educating and inspiring them all. Teaching and research in our department span a wide range of fields that cover theory, applied data analysis, and econometric methodology. Your responsibilities will include
  • Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
  • Disseminating program and/or service information
  • Coordinating the submission process of student grades/marks
  • Coordinating the preparation and distribution of program and/or course material
  • Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, actions and follow‑up items
  • Proofreading and fact‑checking content; editing programs and service material
  • Handling confidential exam documentation; scanning, filing and copying documents
  • Liaising with stakeholders to coordinate space and resource requirements
Essential Qualifications
  • Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two years of recent and related experience providing administrative support to university faculty, TAs, and staff in the coordination of labs for first and second‑year courses
  • Experience proofreading and formatting lecture notes, problem sets, tests and exams
  • Demonstrated experience working with databases and surveys and generating reports
  • Experience working with undergraduates and providing information to students
  • Experience organizing and planning of meetings and events
  • Experience handling confidential materials, such as examination papers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Well‑developed and strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills and the ability
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Access, ROSI and Crowdmark
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member
