SUMMARY OF POSITION
Reporting to the Vancouver Campus Controller, the Institutional Research Analyst plays a crucial role in serving the mission and strategy of the Vancouver Campus and supporting institutional effectiveness by providing technical, analytic, and coordinative support for institutional research and reporting. Duties will primarily include data organization, business and accreditation report development, survey design and implementation, and data analysis.
This role will also include institutional assessment, qualitative and quantitative research design and implementation, data collection, process development, and analysis of information in support of academic program accreditation projects and institutional planning.
This position will work collaboratively with colleagues across university departments at the Vancouver Campus and the New Jersey campuses to strengthen the institution’s efforts towards data quality and integrity, data process and policy development, and strategic support for data accessibility.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- Develop, update, and perform quality assurance on institutional reports using data visualization techniques to track and present key performance indicators.
- Develop and maintain internal student information datasets and dashboard reports, respond to internal data requests, and update and disseminate reports used for institutional reporting, planning and accountability.
- Develop and maintain survey guidance and guidelines for use by the campus community; assist with survey tool development, implementation, and analysis.
- Design and implement data collection and interpretation methodologies to support evaluation of and decision making in program assessment, regulatory compliance, and program development.
- Maintain student career outcome and satisfaction databases/dashboard and generate reports as requested.
- Gather, analyze and interpret information from external sources (e.g., IRCC , BC Labour Market Outlook, etc.) to inform decision making by internal stakeholders.
- Assist new academic program proposal teams by collecting, interpreting and presenting data relevant to program development, such as labor market demand for graduates, market positioning, price sensitivity, academic program demand, competition factors, demographic trends, job opportunity data, etc.
- Support Vancouver Campus leaders in completing institutional assessment processes and procedures, including those required for compliance.
- Conduct ad hoc projects to support institutional assessment and institutional effectiveness.
- Engages in professional development via webinars and workshops to expand the technological capabilities and best practices of the Vancouver Campus with respect to institutional research.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitatively driven discipline (math, statistics, computer science) or other appropriately quantitative academic discipline (e.g., sociology, economics, psychology) required. Master’s degree in such fields preferred.
- Three or more years of demonstrated success in institutional research, business analytics, enrollment management, financial aid, or another data-driven administrative or information management office.
- Substantial experience using statistical analysis software and data visualization applications including Tableau and Tableau Prep, R for Statistics, MS Excel, and MS Power BI. Examples of statistical analyses and/or dashboards will be required.
- Experience with enterprise data management and quality assurance processes (Ellucian Colleague preferred) or statistical software (e.g., SAS , SPSS , STATA , R for Statistics, Tableau Prep) required.
- Experience creating, defining, coding and documenting data automation processes using stages, record types, and validation rules for quality control checks of data.
- Knowledge of survey research processes and design platforms (Qualtrics, Survey Monkey, etc.).
- Experience with time-management software (e.g., Asana) preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently are essential.
- Effective oral and written communication and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Successful completion of a set of interviews, and a data skills assessment.
- Canadian residency or work permit required.
- Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Insurance Number.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include advanced data analysis skills and familiarity with higher education research requirements.
