Job description

Kaycan has an exciting opportunity for a Millwright based in Smiths Falls to join our dynamic maintenance team. This is a great chance to join a Top Employer and contribute to our continued growth and success.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct maintenance and technical support for all manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, assemble, install, and test mechanical systems in accordance with equipment specifications.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and implement scheduled maintenance programs.
  • Collaborate closely with production and engineering teams to minimize downtime and ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Execute productivity and continuous improvement initiatives as directed.
  • Fabricate, modify, or rebuild mechanical components to support production operations.
  • Communicate with vendors, contractors, and service providers to resolve equipment issues.
  • Operate machining and fabrication tools such as lathes, mills, welders, plasma cutters, and torches for maintenance and fabrication work.
  • Read and interpret mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics and blueprints.
  • Support electrical and plumbing maintenance activities as required.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or Supervisor.

Is this job for you ?
  • Licensed Industrial Millwright (433A) or equivalent trade certification.
  • Proven experience in maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of manufacturing or industrial machinery.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical drive systems.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers) and alignment equipment.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, sensors, and automated systems considered an asset.
  • Welding and machining experience (lathe, milling, grinding) required.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and use of required PPE (hearing, vision, and protective footwear).
  • Basic computer literacy for maintenance tracking and reporting.
