Qualifications

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Human Resources (HR) Manager will lead Labour Relations activities, developing strong relationships with union stakeholders. The role will also support strategic HR initiatives that support talent development, employee engagement, health and safety, DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access), and total rewards. This role is central to cultivating a supportive and high-performing organizational culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and professional development.
  • Manage and lead Labour Relations activities from early resolutions to arbitration.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to leadership on HR policies, workforce planning, and labour relations.
  • Champion culture-building efforts that promote respect, inclusion, and collaboration.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and promote staff well-being.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary HR team, including Payroll & Benefits, HR Generalist, and Systems Coordinator.
  • Develop and implement learning and development initiatives that support employee growth.
  • Partner with managers to design engagement strategies aligned with organizational goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive knowledge of labour relations, including relevant legislation, collective bargaining frameworks grievance processes, and dispute resolution.
  • CHRP or CHRL designation is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in HR leadership within a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated success in driving employee engagement and fostering a positive workplace culture.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with expertise in coaching and conflict resolution.
  • Deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and collaborative work environments.
