Job description

The Great Bear project is a development-stage asset located in the renowned and prolific Red Lake mining district, and represents one of the most exciting recent gold discoveries globally. The project has excellent potential to become a top-tier deposit that could support a large, long-life mine complex. Kinross’ comprehensive exploration and development program will aim to support the vision of a quality, high-grade, open-pit mine and a longer-term, sizeable underground mine.

Purpose of Role

Deliver high-quality human resources services by providing support to all employees. This position will independently manage and administer all Human Resources programs and processes, including benefit administration, recruiting, training, employee relations, while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect its departmental and divisional objectives of the Great Bear Project.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Lead the recruitment process by identifying candidates, performing reference checks, and issuing employment contracts.
  • Develop and maintain current job description inventory and revise, as necessary.
  • Maintain Human Resource Information System (HRIS) records and compile reports from database to audit on regular basis.
  • Maintain accurate hard and digital copies of employee records.
  • Assist with all internal and external HR related inquiries or requests.
  • Assist with performance management procedures.
  • Assist with the administration of benefits and assure full communication with the department and employees.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures, ensuring compliance to Canadian legislation and Company principles and guidelines.
  • Administration of leave of absence program.
  • Facilitate and/or provide training to workforce.
  • Assist HR Manager with various projects or activities.
  • Manage and administer the site’s payroll processes ensuring accuracy in time management system punches and that corrections are made timely and accurately.
  • Acts as a key point of contact for any payroll questions and independently resolves site payroll issues or escalates timely as needed.
  • Assist with building a company culture of accountability and engagement and becoming the company of choice for employees.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality and privacy surrounding all company and employee information.
  • Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation and commitment to satisfy our operation’s goal of being accident‑free.
  • Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
  • College Degree in Business Administration or similar discipline with 2 to 3 years of related office experience. Alternately, an individual possessing an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma with 5 years of directly related HR office experience may be considered. Accounting, bookkeeping or payroll administration experience is an asset.
  • Proficient computer skills and experience using SAP Success Factors Employee Central (specifically HRIS module) and UKG (Time and attendance)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities.
Work Conditions

This position is based in Red Lake, ON. In this role, you will work a 5x2 schedule.

Compensation & Total Rewards

The base salary range for the Human Resources Generalist is $80,000 to $92,000 CAD + Short Term Incentive Bonus + Group Benefit coverage.

The hiring range reflects our targeted compensation framework for the role. The actual offer will be determined through a comprehensive evaluation of each candidate’s experience, capabilities, and potential impact, along with consideration of internal equity, team structure, and benchmark market data for similar positions.
