Job Description: Human Resources Consultant – Faro Mine

Location: Hybrid - Remote (Western Canada) with Travel to Faro, Yukon

Parsons is seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resources professional to join our team in a project-based role supporting one of the largest and most complex abandoned mine remediation projects in Canada: the Faro Mine Remediation Project (FMRP). This position is remote within Canada, with travel to the project site in Faro, Yukon, for one week per month.

You will play a critical role in providing strategic HR support to the project which includes working with a unionized workforce, fostering positive labor relations, and ensuring compliance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA). This role requires a proactive and adaptable HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to building strong relationships with employees, union representatives, and management.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary HR point of contact for employees and management on the project, to include a newly unionized environment, ensuring compliance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) and fostering positive labor relations.
  • Collaborate with managers to address grievances, disputes, and other labor-related issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide guidance and support to management on interpreting and applying the terms of the CBA, labor laws, and company policies.
  • In conjunction with the employee relations department, conduct investigations into workplace concerns, including disciplinary matters, ensuring fairness, consistency, and adherence to company policies and union agreements.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for employees and supervisors on HR policies, labor relations, and compliance with employment standards.
  • Partner with site leadership to promote employee engagement, retention, and a positive workplace culture.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential HR records, including those related to grievances, disciplinary actions, and labor relations activities.
  • Act as a liaison between corporate HR and the site to ensure alignment with organizational goals and strategies.
  • Support large company-wide initiatives (e.g., merit planning, goal setting, organizational changes – any number of varying initiatives through-out the year)
  • Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence to provide seamless HR support and guidance to the business
Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, Human Resources, a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience that includes labor relations and HR within a unionized environment
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian employment laws and regulations relevant to unionized workplaces
  • Effective and detailed skills in the area of employee relations, addressing workplace issues effectively and thoroughly.
  • High level skills in communication, written and verbal, difficult conversations, and problem solving
  • Advanced knowledge and utilization of Microsoft 365: Excel, Outlook, Word and Power Point

Salary Range: $79,900 - $148,500
