Qualifications

Job description

We’re looking for an adaptable and proactive HR Coordinator to join our team on a 14-month maternity leave contract. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with our leadership team and gain hands‑on experience across all areas of HR. You’ll play a key role in executing ongoing HR programs, leading key committees, and supporting our people‑first culture while driving operational efficiency.
Here’s how you will impact SPC:

General HR Operations

  • Administer and execute all existing HR programs and initiatives, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations.
  • Support employees and managers with HR‑related inquiries, providing timely and practical guidance.
  • Maintain employee records and documentation in compliance with company policies and employment legislation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Manage full‑cycle recruitment for all roles — from job posting to onboarding.
  • Partner with hiring managers to identify needs, source candidates, conduct interviews, and coordinate offers.
  • Ensure a welcoming and consistent onboarding experience for new hires.

Performance & Development

  • Coordinate the performance review cycle, including goal‑setting, feedback collection, and review meetings.
  • Support leadership with performance tracking and employee development initiatives.
  • Partner with managers to identify training needs and track development activities.

Health, Safety & Employee Well‑Being

  • Lead the Health & Safety Committee, ensuring compliance with all provincial regulations.
  • Conduct safety meetings, maintain documentation, and support workplace inspections and reporting.
  • Promote employee wellness initiatives and ensure a safe, supportive workplace culture.

Culture, Events & Engagement

  • Lead the Social Committee and plan company‑wide events, holidays, and celebrations.
  • Support engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and team‑building activities.
  • Assist with internal communications to strengthen culture and connection.

Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement

  • Manage ClickUp for HR projects, workflows, and cross‑team initiatives.
  • Partner with teams to standardize and streamline processes, improving efficiency and accountability.
  • Identify opportunities for workflow improvements and support implementation across departments.
What you contribute to the team:
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, ideally in an administrator or coordinator capacity.
  • Post‑secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (degree or diploma).
  • Working towards, or completion of, the CHRP designation is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of Ontario employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization.
  • Adaptable and solutions‑oriented — able to balance employee advocacy with business priorities.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced small business environment.
