Position Overview

Under the direction of the Resource Coordinator - Home Care, the Home Care Attendant (HCA) functions as a member of the Home Care team and is responsible for the provision of personal care and home support services to an individual or group of home care clients as assigned. As identified by an established plan of care, the HCA provides paraprofessional services to assist frail, physically disabled, and/or mentally challenged clients of all ages to remain in their own homes as long as safely possible. The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Français: Sous la direction du Coordonnateur des ressources - Soins à domicile, l’Aide - Soins à domicile agit en tant que membre de l’équipe de soins personnels à domicile et est chargé(e) de fournir des soins personnels et des services de soutien à domicile à un ou plusieurs clients, selon le cas. Conformément à un plan de soins établi, l’Aide - Soins à domicile fournit des services paraprofessionnels pour aider les clients frêles, les personnes en situation de handicap physique et/ou mental de tous âges à rester chez eux aussi longtemps qu’ils peuvent le faire en toute sécurité. Le ou la titulaire du poste bénéficie d’un niveau d’initiative approprié et fait preuve d’un jugement indépendant pour déterminer les priorités de travail, les méthodes de travail à utiliser et les mesures à adopter pour traiter les questions inhabituelles. Les fonctions du poste sont exercées d’une manière conforme à la vision, à la mission, aux valeurs et aux politiques de Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Experience
  • Previous experience working with the elderly or disabled in a community setting is preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a home care program is an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Grade 12 education required.
  • Home Care Attendant Certificate or Health Care Aide Certificate with community component from a recognized post-secondary institute.
Formation (degré/diplôme/certificat)
  • Diplôme de 12e année requis.
  • Certificat d’aide aux soins personnels à domicile ou certificat d’aide en soins de santé avec volet communautaire décerné par un établissement postsecondaire reconnu.
