Overview

Job Description HEALTH CARE AIDE EXTENDICARE - RIVER EAST PERSONAL CARE HOME. Applicants are invited to apply for the following positions available at our Personal Care Home serving 120 elders from the city and community of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of the RN / RPN / LPN / and Director of Care, the Health Care Aide provides hands on personal and nursing care and works collaboratively with each team member in providing Elder Centered Care in the Home.
  • Ensures Elder centered care is provided within established policies and procedures and job routines as outlined on the elder care plan.
  • Assisting with personal hygiene, meals, ambulation, and other care treatments as required.
  • Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner and maintains work area in a clean, orderly, and safe manner, adheres to infection control procedures and follows provincial WS&H guidelines / regulations.
  • Monitors, completes daily assessments, and reports all changes in physical or mental condition to the supervisor.
  • Participates in team huddles, interdisciplinary care reviews, committees and meetings as required.
  • Adheres to “Standards of Employee Conduct” and Elder Bill of Rights in the Home.
  • Responsible for the development and upgrading of his / her knowledge and skills.
Qualifications
  • Health Care Aide Certificate from an approved facility.
  • Previous Long Term Care experience an asset.
  • Mental y and physically able to perform responsibilities as outlined.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with other staff, Elders, families, and the public in both written and oral form.
  • Current (within 6 months) Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse & Adult Abuse check.
  • Salary and benefits as per the collective agreement.
