Position Overview: This position provides health and safety training, delivery and design for all branch specific requirements including hazard assessment, energy isolation, fall protection, crane & rigging, forklift, blocking and cribbing, press tooling, and near miss reporting for internal customers. Training will be delivered both in person and virtually. This role works with the facility safety coordinators to develop plans and scheduling to meet training needs. Responsibilities
  • Deliver in-person and virtual OHS training courses at multiple Finning Canada facilities
  • Evaluate learners through theory and practical skills
  • Maintain certification and stay up to date on all course deliverables
  • Complete administrative requirements accurately and in a timely manner, including evaluations, expenses, etc.
  • Locate, assemble and provide “hands on” training material, training aids and documents for in-class delivery. Develop agendas, objectives, exams, course manuals and presentation material and deliver effective training using a variety of methods
  • Locate, assemble and provide health and safety training aids, and shop space for required “hands on” application of in-class theory
  • Coordinate movement of training aids, confirm classroom space at other branches, and provide cost quotes for training to be delivered to customers to complete the necessary paperwork for data entry in the training database
  • Assist the service departments with health and safety requirements and facility needs for specific health and safety training
  • Complete in-person practical and competency assessments for all safety courses
Be a safety ambassador
  • Strong role model for health and safety in the workplace
  • Act as a subject matter expert to assist the Learning and Development Team in developing or modifying course content
  • Participate in OHS and Learning and Development Team meetings
Partner with facilities in their safety training plans
  • Work with OHS Training coordinator to plan and book training with facilities
  • Work closely with OHS team and facilities to address safety concerns
Education & Experience
  • 5 to 10 years of practical experience using adult learning techniques and best practices in a trainer/facilitator capacity including both virtual and in-person environments with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications and internal systems
  • Health and Safety certifications and accreditations (e.g. WHMIS, Working at Heights, Train the Trainer programs, Joint Health and Safety Committee, CRSP)
  • Standard First Aid & CPR/AED certification is an asset
  • Flexibility and ability to travel is essential. This position requires teamwork and ability to work independently
