Job description
Position Overview

The Finance and Technology is a senior role responsible for shaping, leading, and executing enterprise-wide transformation across Munich Re’s Global Specialty Insurance (GSI) organization. As a strategic partner to the Chief Transformation Officer, this role drives multi-year, high-value initiatives that modernize the business, optimize performance, and enhance GSI’s competitive advantage across the global specialty P&C market. The Manager will oversee major transformation programs—spanning finance, underwriting, claims, operations, and technology—while influencing executive leadership and ensuring alignment with board-level strategic priorities.

Your Role:
Strategic Framework Development
  • Partner with the Chief Transformation Officer to design and evolve the multi-year GSI transformation roadmap, ensuring integration with enterprise strategy and board expectations.
  • Translate strategic priorities into actionable programs, governance structures, and measurable outcomes across specialty lines and global markets.
  • Lead execution of complex, multi-workstream transformation programs from concept through delivery and benefits realization. Oversee program governance frameworks, milestone tracking, dependency management, risk mitigation, and stakeholder communication. Ensure sustainable adoption of new systems, processes, and operating models across GSI.
  • Lead the delivery of a GSI-wide Finance Transformation Program, encompassing process modernization, system enhancements, reporting optimization, and improved financial controls, including simplification and standardization of core finance processes (e.g., ledger design, close, planning, forecasting, technical accounting) to deliver a streamlined operating model supported by modern data and reporting capabilities.
  • Drive the cross-functional alignment strategy between Underwriting and Claims across GSI’s entities, aligning workflows, governance, technology and performance standards across the value chain. Work closely with Chief Underwriters and Claims leaders to enhance straight through processing and automation with latest technology in turn assisting with efficient risk selection and claims processing.
  • Assist with the GSI IT project budgeting and prioritization process, overseeing the allocation of $100M+ across business transformation initiatives, technology modernization, digital programs, and foundational infrastructure. Lead portfolio governance, ensuring investment decisions work with strategic priorities (business and technology) and towards ROI. Partner with CIO, CFO, and business executives to balance transformation initiatives, run‑the‑business needs, and regulatory demands.
  • Collaborate closely with the BPI team to drive end-to-end design discussions across various business units, and to apply DMAIC methodologies in the transformation initiatives to quantify success metrics and validate improvements consistently across GSI
Your Profile:
  • 10–15+ years of experience in financial services, insurance/reinsurance, or consulting, with a strong focus on transformation.
  • Proven leadership delivering large-scale transformation programs, IT portfolio governance, or operational excellence and modernization in the Insurance industry.
  • Prior experience influencing C-suite stakeholders and operating within complex global organizations.
  • Expertise in digital transformation, process optimization, and operating model redesign.
  • Preferred: MBA or advanced degree; Lean/Six Sigma; Waterfall and Agile Transformation experience
