Company Description

Fuerte Metals is a Vancouver-based exploration and development company focused on advancing high-quality gold projects in Canada. Our flagship asset is the 100%-owned Coffee Gold Project in the Yukon, a well-advanced gold project advancing through permitting, engineering, and early works toward a construction decision. We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead an integrated project management team through engineering, construction, and eventual operation of the Coffee Gold Project. This role will be based in Whitehorse, Yukon, with regular rotational travel to the site, and will play a key role in advancing the project toward construction and beyond, reporting to the COO.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in engineering studies as a reviewer
  • Coordinate with EPCM on the 2026 Early Works program
  • Lead safe construction of the Coffee Gold Project in accordance with the approved engineering study scope, schedule, and budget
  • Oversee EPCM delivery of processing plant, infrastructure, and site facilities in line with owner-approved design
  • Ensure construction quality, inspection, and verification meet technical, regulatory, and safety requirements
  • Lead preparation of the operation for commissioning and steady-state production
  • Establish the site operating organization, including role definitions, workflows, and leadership structure
  • Develop and execute a workforce strategy, including early hiring, training, and operational readiness
  • Implement operating rules, procedures, and systems aligned with corporate People, Environmental, Technical, and Commercial frameworks
  • Establish and manage performance measures for operations, maintenance, and technical teams
  • Ensure environmental and community commitments are respected throughout construction and operations
  • Engage constructively with regulators, communities, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Execute non-routine assignments and support future project start-ups or expansions as required
Qualifications
  • 20+ years of experience in mine development, construction, and operations
  • Demonstrated success delivering large-scale mining projects from construction to production
  • Strong experience managing EPCM execution and operational readiness
  • Proven leadership in complex regulatory, community, and stakeholder environments
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams through periods of high operational intensity
  • Willingness to work on a site-based or rotational schedule in the Yukon
