Summary

Reporting to the Mill Supervisor, the General Labourer packs, ties, labels, counts and identifies wood using various handling equipment.

Main duties

• Operate wood handling equipment on the stacking line
• Piling lumber by hand
• Band and wrap lumber
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation and yard
• Adhere to all workplace safety rules and regulations
• Adhere to customer service commitments
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, skills and abilities

• Attention to detail
• Able to count and identify wood products of various sizes
• Must have own steel-toe boots
• Basic math skills
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds or 23 kilograms, and heavier weights as required
• Must be able to speak, read and write English

Education

• High school diploma is an asset

• $19.74/hr as per Schedules A & B of the Collective Agreement with the United Steel Workers
