Overview

Shared Health is seeking a General Duty Medical Laboratory Technologist in the Killarney Diagnostics department, reporting to the Charge or designate. The role involves clinical analysis and reporting on patient samples according to established protocols, supporting general lab projects (e.g., SOPs, chemical inventories), and maintaining a safe environment in accordance with professional and provincial guidelines. The incumbent ensures compliance with quality assurance programs and accreditation standards, working within the Mission and Values of Shared Health Diagnostic Services and applicable policies and legislation.

Responsibilities
  • Perform clinical analysis and reporting on patient samples according to established protocols.
  • Assist in general laboratory projects (SOPs, chemical inventories, etc.).
  • Maintain a safe laboratory environment and ensure compliance with quality assurance and accreditation requirements.
  • Work in accordance with Shared Health Diagnostic Services policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.
Experience
  • Previous related experience preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory Technology program.
  • Successful completion of the CMLTM Prior Learning Assessment process may be considered for a discipline specialty, as deemed by the Employer.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Manitoba (CMLTM) required.
  • Current membership with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) considered an asset.
Qualifications And Skills
  • Effective English communication (written and oral).
  • Windows computer environment; proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain confidentiality.
  • Fluent French language skills may be required (written and oral).
  • Ability to perform duties as described.
Physical Requirements
  • Working shifts, weekends and holidays may be required.
  • Standby and callback duties may be required.
  • Rotate through various workstations as required.
  • Exposure to laboratory hazards and dangers; refer to Job Hazard Analysis for definitive information.
