Overview

Your role What you\'ll be doing

General Legal Counsel

Corpay is currently looking to hire a General Legal Counsel within our PayByPhone division. This position falls under our International Vehicle Payments LOB and is located in Vancouver, BC.

You will be organising and managing legal business matters pertaining to the PayByPhone Group organisation globally. Coordinating legal matters as requested by senior management and the Group General Counsel. Taking direct responsibility for the business lines of the PayByPhone Group globally, and acting as trusted business partner to the C-Suite within PayByPhone Technologies Inc. and its subsidiaries.

You will report directly to the Group Legal Counsel and CFO and regularly collaborate with PayByPhone business leaders (CFO, COO, CEO, etc) and the wider global legal and compliance teams.

As a General Legal Counsel, you will be expected to work in an office environment. Corpay will set you up for success by providing:

Role Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Acting as trusted advisor to business colleagues and leaders.
  • Managing a team of PayByPhone Group legal professionals and fostering relationships with members of the wider Corpay legal team.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating various types of contracts: confidentiality agreements, commercial contracts, intellectual property agreements, government contracts, public procurement bids, supplier agreements, consumer disclosures and marketing materials.
  • Maintaining and updating template documents.
  • Undertaking varied corporate work such as preparing board minutes, maintaining corporate registers and preparing filings.
  • Working on a diverse range of legal areas such as corporate, commercial, marketing and product.
  • Managing commercial disputes and litigation matters, managing external counsel and legal budgets.
  • Supporting product development initiatives with actionable and clear legal advice.
  • Identifying regulations applicable to the operations of the PayByPhone Group, develop and manage compliance programs where required; areas of compliance include privacy, consumer protection, anti-money laundering and payment licensing.
  • Developing PayByPhone Legal team\'s knowledge management resources, recordkeeping systems and processes for managing agreements.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Canadian qualified lawyer of 7+/- years PQE.
  • Experience of working in an in-house legal team.
  • Proactive, organisational skills, detail-orientated with good communication skills and a keen and “can do” attitude.
  • Ability to work in a team oriented, practical environment.
  • Can manage a variety of assigned projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and time management skills.
  • A self-motivated and hard worker who can hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
