PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
The Gas Bar Supervisor ensures the achievement of planned sales and gross margin results. The incumbent also ensures that the image and housekeeping standards required are maintained within a safe and secure working environment. The Gas Bar Supervisor is expected to market ideas to promote business; reduce employee turnover; maintain revenue and payroll budgets; and meet budgeted productivity while keeping quality consistently high.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Plan, direct and evaluate the operations of the gas station.
- Manage staff and assign duties.
- Study market research and trends to determine consumer demand, potential sales volumes and effect of competitors' operations on sales.
- Achieve planned sales and gross margin results through effective pricing management and expense control.
- Ensure daily product pricing is within the pricing strategies developed and set.
- Maintain daily pricing information.
- Develop and implement marketing strategies.
- Utilize and cooperate with required customer appreciation and incentive programs.
- Resolve customer complaints.
- Hire, train and develop high caliber staff, who comply with company policies, and adhere to required housekeeping and image standards.
- Enforce all corporate and regulated policies and procedures.
- Create and maintain employee schedules.
- Submit payroll info on a weekly basis (timesheets, payroll changes, new hires, and terminations).
- Enforce progressive discipline policy with counseling sessions and written warnings when necessary.
- Conduct suspension and termination meetings when necessary.
- Maintain various reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis (paid outs, compliance books, sales reports, phone card report, and vendor log).
- Review and maintain inventory procedures.
- Vendor ordering and review of invoicing.
- Utilize proper stocking and inventory procedures, ensure maintenance of these policies.
- Submit lottery report.
- Run bank deposits and conduct competitive price surveys.
- Train employees on the importance of safe work practices including proper use of equipment, cleaning guidelines and WHMIS procedures, as well as corporate policies and general business procedures.
- Respond to maintenance needs, ensuring adequate coverage of shift schedules, stick tanks, perform gas audits, change pricing signs, and respond to customer complaints.
- Provide friendly and efficient customer service.
- Perform cashier and attendant duties when necessary.
- Provide feedback to suppliers, buyers, and warehouses regarding customer opinions, buying trends, and other pertinent information.
- Maintain the building, equipment and property of the store.
- Maintain and monitor inventory in both store and fuel sales. Ensure daily dips are taken and properly recorded and orders product as required.

REQUIREMENTS

- Minimum of high school or GED equivalent, with university degree or college diploma preferred.
- Retail management considered an asset.
- Proven ability to inspire and motivate a team to reach its goals.
- Demonstrated knowledge of inventory control techniques and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of budget, accounting, and fiscal management.
- Solid understanding of retail concepts such as gross margin, markdowns, and so on.
- Extremely personable and adept at dealing with the public, with exceptional customer service orientation.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to consistently represent the company in a professional manner.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data entry.
- Ability to generate and analyze reports.
- Able to quickly calculate discounts, percentages, and volume.
- Sound judgment and strong decision-making skills.
- Good knowledge of effective merchandise presentation and displays.
- Flexible in adapting to changing business needs and strategies.
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
- Ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanor.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must possess valid training and certification as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Some travel may be required.
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
- Standing for extended periods of time.
- Able to lift items up to 70 lbs.
- Climbing ladders may be necessary.
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
- Overtime and weekend work as required.
- Will perform work both indoors and outdoors.
- Outdoor work may be performed in inclement weather, in a wide range of temperatures.
