Monday – Thursday 14:00 – 22:00 and Friday 11:00 – 18:30

Payrate

$18.54/hour

Responsibilities
  • Opening and closing the facility, patrolling interior and exterior spaces and controlling access/egress, providing security escorts, as required
  • Operating, accessing, and occasionally monitoring the video surveillance equipment
  • Monitoring and responding to alarm systems
  • Maintain a high standard of civility, deportment and appearance and apply a philosophy of compassion and de-escalation
  • Support staff, volunteers, tenants and Library patrons by knowing and understanding the Library’s Rules of Conduct and applying these rules in a fair, dignified and positive manner
  • Reporting Incidents using the Library’s Incident Reporting Tool
  • Resolving incidents according to the Library’s guidelines, instructions, procedures and reporting on incidents according to established procedures
  • Protecting all persons and property in emergencies (medical, fire, disaster, severe weather, bomb threat, evacuation, etc.)
  • Functioning as the Primary First Aid service provider at the Central Library, including potential administration of a blocking medication such as Naloxone and use of AEDs
  • Reporting all emergency incidents to the Library as soon as possible and providing a written incident report to the Library
Prerequisites
  • Valid Ontario Security License
  • Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider
  • English (oral and written) fluency
  • 3 years of security experience
  • Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) or willing to obtain via Paladin training prior to onboarding
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all training costs with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
