French Teacher 2025-2026

The Nelson Waldorf School is seeking applications for a part-time French Teacher for grades 1 to 9. The position is available for the 2025–2026 school year, with the contract beginning mid-August 2025.

The French teacher will bring joy and enthusiasm for the learning of French. Key qualities include strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for a class of up to 24 students and should have excellent class management and organizational skills.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Delivering the French Curriculum, integrating BC Ministry requirements and Waldorf curriculum
2. Reporting on students according to Faculty agreements and BC Ministry requirements
3. Abiding by BC Independent School teacher conduct and competence standards

Reports to: Principal of the School

Terms of Employment: Permanent, part-time 0.60 FTE; $30,000 to $35,000 plus benefits (health, disability, life insurance, and tuition) and increments based on experience.

Education and Skill Requirements:

• BC Teacher Certification required
• Completed Waldorf Teacher Training with a clear understanding of Rudolf Steiner’s education and philosophy preferred or willingness to undertake Waldorf training
• Fluency in French and English
