About the Role

The Temporary French-Canadian Copywriter will transcreate English creative into culturally fluent, on-brand French for TV, social, and digital. The role goes beyond translation—requiring someone who can adapt tone, humour, and intent for the Quebec market while ensuring legal and union compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Transcreate English scripts, headlines, and social copy into French-Canadian with cultural nuance and creative integrity.
  • Write original French content for TV, social, web, OOH, and short‑form video.
  • Adapt TV scripts from English dialogue to a French‑only voice‑over approach that aligns with Quebec TVC conventions.
  • Ensure all content meets Quebec linguistic standards and UDA‑related requirements (terminology, talent categories, usage rules).
  • Collaborate with creative, strategy, and production teams and advise on cultural and linguistic best practices.
  • Support French VO casting, recording sessions, and script refinements during production.
  • Review and quality‑check French content delivered by vendors or freelancers.
About You
The Essentials
  • Native French‑Canadian fluency with excellent English comprehension.
  • Strong experience in transcreation rather than literal translation.
  • Proven writing skills across TV, social, digital, and web formats.
  • Deep understanding of Quebec culture, humour, idioms, and language laws.
  • Familiarity with UDA rules, French VO talent categories, usage implications, and production considerations.
  • 7+ years of copywriting or transcreation experience (agency or brand).
  • Detail‑oriented, collaborative, and effective under fast timelines.

Hourly Rate: CAD $35–$47 (actual compensation will depend on job‐related factors)
