Job summary

A local food service provider in the Regional District of North Okanagan, Vernon is seeking a dedicated supervisor to oversee food preparation staff. The role involves ensuring quality control in service, training team members, and managing kitchen supplies. Candidates should possess a secondary school graduation certificate and some relevant experience. This is a permanent position offering 30 hours per week, with support programs in place for newcomers, refugees, and Indigenous people.

  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies.
  • Supervise and co-ordinate activities of staff who prepare and portion food.

  • Prepare budget and cost estimates.
  • Address customers' complaints or concerns.
  • Prepare and submit reports.

  • Supports social and labour market integration of newcomers and / or refugees (for example : facilitating access to community resources, language training, skills training, etc.)
  • Recruits newcomers and / or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster (for example : Ukraine, Afghanistan, etc.)
  • Supports newcomers and / or refugees with foreign credential recognition
  • Offers mentorship programs that pair newcomers and / or refugees with experienced employees
Support for Indigenous people
  • Offers mentorship, coaching and / or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers
  • Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses and organizations
  • Provides cultural competency training and / or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers
