Type of Position: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Job Summary

The Shipping Clerk is integral to our operations, responsible for the use of our ERP system, inspecting, and documenting all outgoing finished products and managing all shipping-related activities. This role ensures timely loading of finished goods, with precision to prevent order errors. The Shipping Clerk also stages finished goods in our warehouse rack system, playing a crucial role in our supply chain .

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Reviews and completes Bills of Ladings, and other shipping documentation, ensuring alignment with purchase orders and/or transfer orders.

  • Coordinates with drivers.
  • Performs inspections of outgoing trucks, loading products per customer purchase orders, and maintaining a record of BOLs.
  • Maintains a comprehensive tracking system, both paper and electronic, for all shipping and inventory-related documents.
  • Monitors inventory levels, communicating updates to Warehouse Supervisor, and assists with cycle counts as needed.
  • Ensures the safe and timely loading of shipments while complying with customer-specific requirements.
  • Complies with all company safety standards and health regulations, including the maintenance of driver logs.
  • Assists with inventory management, including labeling and allocating items to designated spaces.
  • Handles data entry in the ERP system and promptly reports any order discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Adheres to GMPs, SOPs, and other company policies and procedures.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED is required; a postgraduate certificate is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally in the food industry.
  • 1-2 years of stand-up forklift operator experience (must have a Valid Driver License)
  • Experience in record management in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Basic computer skills are needed, with experience in data entry software.
  • Familiarity with shipping procedures and high attention to detail and organization.
Skills and Abilities
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and numerical skills, including the ability to perform mathematical calculations in different units of measurement.
  • Solid understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices, Health and Safety, and Food Safety.
  • Ability to follow both written and oral instructions, coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer and language skills.
  • Function effectively in a fast-paced team environment, work cooperatively with drivers, and provide leadership when necessary.
  • Operate a powered pallet jack and stand-up forklift.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work late or early hours, some Saturdays, and overtime if necessary.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to fingers; handle; and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl; and talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision; peripheral vision; and ability to adjust focus. The employees are regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places; extreme heat and cold. While the employee is performing regular duties, they are also exposed to possible risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
