The Mississaugua Golf and Country Club is one of Canada’s top private all-season golf clubs, with a diverse membership of 1,400 members and an outstanding Tier One golf course famous for its excellence. The Club has played host to numerous premier events, including six Canadian Opens.

Founded in 1906, MG&CC is a year-round private club that offers golf, curling, fitness and tennis, dining and social amenities. Our Tudor Clubhouse is a spectacular venue for casual and fine dining, banquets, weddings and various social events and functions.

Position Summary

The Mississaugua Golf and Country Club is seeking a passionate and active Fitness Floor Support & Personal Trainer to join our Fitness Centre Team. Under the supervision and direction of the Fitness Director, the Personal Trainer will provide one-on-one guidance or fitness instructions to members to help them attain their fitness goals by providing professional advice and exceptional service to promote a healthy, active lifestyle. The incumbent will work closely with other fitness professionals to ensure the facility is clean and safe in accordance with the Club’s Standards and must demonstrate strong communication skills and a professional demeanor while delivering exceptional member service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Works closely with the Fitness Manager to develop and deliver events and programs that improve member participation and enjoyment and promote the fitness facilities.
  • Understands member needs and plans workout routines by selecting the appropriate exercises to help members achieve their goals.
  • Provides training to members using the equipment, including all cardio and strength machines.
  • Motivates members to achieve their fitness goals.
  • Maintains punctuality and ensures designed workout routines are followed properly.
  • Designs rehabilitation programs, through guidance from health practitioners, in case of injuries.
  • Provides fitness tips to enhance the workout program.
  • Offers educational wellness advice to members to improve health.
  • Performs regular checkups to ensure all equipment in the Fitness Center is functioning satisfactorily.
  • Evaluates the overall Fitness Center and recommends improvements to facilities.
  • Provides various training advice and assistance to ensure the best possible service to members.
  • Conducts fitness assessments to determine goals, needs, plans, and schedule.
  • Supports other fitness professionals in the department when required to ensure superior service.
  • Performs regular inspections to maintain a clean and safe environment for members, guests and staff.
  • Reports major damage of equipment or property to the Fitness Manager for action.
  • Responds to emergencies in the Fitness Department as required, including providing information to emergency personnel or performing CPR.
  • Performs additional duties as specified by the Fitness Manager.
  • Maintains a safe, clean environment and enforces facility rules and etiquette.
  • Performs regular inspections to ensure the fitness center provides a clean and safe environment for members and guests.
Skills & Requirements
  • College Certificate in Fitness is required; degree in Kinesiology/Science preferred.
  • Minimum two years experience in a weight room/fitness center setting is required.
  • Experience working with and teaching different age groups is an asset.
  • Private club fitness center experience is an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Able to work shifts – evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Well-groomed, mannerly, cooperative and outwardly friendly (team oriented).
  • Up-to-date First Aid/CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Degree in Kinesiology/Science is an asset.
  • Group Fitness Leader Certification is an asset.
  • CPR and First Aid and Defibrillator (AED) certification is required.
  • Personal Training Certification is required.
  • Incumbent is responsible for maintaining Personal Liability Insurance and renews annually.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, bend, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, work with fingers, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to lift 20 lbs and move/push equipment as needed.
  • Visual acuity required.
  • Prolonged standing.
  • Ability to think and process information quickly, clearly, and accurately.
  • Strong reasoning ability; able to apply common sense in carrying out detailed instructions and to deal calmly with problems and people under pressure.
