Job description
POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Program Supervisor Adult Fitness, Wellness & Inclusion Services, is responsible for the proper guidance and direction of the weight room and multi-training areas.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develops an awareness of safe and proper usage of the weight room and multi-training areas.
  • Provides basic instruction on use of equipment, training principles and safety.
  • Ensures that rules and regulations pertaining to user safety and cleanliness are adhered to by patrons.
  • Conducts weight room and multi-training room orientations and facility tours.
  • Reports on equipment maintenance, inventory and keeps appropriate records of statistics.
  • Communicates participant requests, suggestions, and complaints to Supervisor.
  • Performs daily schedule as outlined.
  • Attends general staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Patrols multi-training areas, track, weight room, courts and the fitness program room and provides general supervision.
  • Performs other related duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • Must possess an academic and practical knowledge of weight training
  • Preferred candidate will have gone through a recognized course on weight training
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
  • Must obtain Standard First Aid CPR-C within three months of employment
  • Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Must obtain WHMIS training
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Part-time (not to exceed 24 hours per week)
  • Irregular hours (Monday to Sunday)
