What’s the Job?

With over 25 years of experience in the remote camp business, Horizon North is a leader in remote camp catering. Many of our applicants have been referred by existing employees who recommended Horizon North to their friends and colleagues.

As a remote First Cook you will be responsible for proper and timely preparation of meals including, but not limited to, food service, food safety and supervision of kitchen staff. This is a rotational position working 14 days on, 14 days off in a remote camp site.

Your responsibilities
  • Coordinate and be responsible for the handling, preparation, production, and timely service of breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks in accordance with approved methods and standards.
  • Ensure all meals are prepared according to client scheduling and within the menu plan and budget guidelines.
  • Prepare meals as per the provided menu plan. Ensure adequate quantities are prepared as per the menu plan, and follow all production quotas set.
  • Ensure food is prepared as close to consumption time as possible. Supervise portioning to meals on the serving line to ensure clients receive the amounts specified.
  • Coordinate all kitchen staff involved in the preparation and serving of meals. The number of employees under supervision varies by facility and business needs.
  • Ensure proper storage and rotation of all food supplies.
  • Prepare and send food orders.

Qualifications
