We are looking for a Financial Analyst to join our team in order to deliver excellence in Reinsurance Accounting and Financial Reporting on a timely and accurate basis ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Come join the Financial Reporting function at Aviva Canada!
What you’ll do:
- Assist in end-to-end accounting for transactions on ceded business on monthly and quarterly basis.
- Support month end and quarter end accounting process with regards to AR/AP and cash transactions.
- Help prepare reinsurance schedules for P&C-1 reporting and provide these to the reporting team at Aviva for each insurance entity on timely basis.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations to ensure the account balances are reconciled on an IFRS and CIFRS basis.
- Ensure external reports and data received are good quality and delays are promptly followed up on;
- Work with manager to prepare and analyze reports to investigate and explain variances and raise questions on reasonability of results;
- Exercise considerable organizational skills in prioritizing, time management and maintaining proper accounting procedures.
- Identify areas for automation or process improvements and work with manager of to implement these;
- Assist with responding to queries from other functions, and external parties like brokers and reinsurers.
- Produce required adhoc deliverables as assigned;
- Act as a great teammate with strong initiative;
- This role reports to the Manager, Reinsurance – Finance.
What you’ll bring:
- Accounting/Finance related University Degree.
- A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent or working towards a CPA.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Oracle Fusion, Planning and Budgeting Cloud Services (PBCS) and Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud (FCCS) knowledge is an asset.
- Minimum 2 years of accounting related experience
- Experience with Property and Casualty insurance operations, reinsurance, accounting and regulatory reporting is a plus.
- Highly developed communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; sound problem solving skills with capability of multi-tasking.
- Ability and passion to improve processes while simultaneously delivering under tight timelines.
