JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you ready to turn data into decisions? As a Financial Analyst, you'll play a key role in shaping the financial direction of the business by partnering with operations to deliver timely updates, build forecasts, and support strategic planning. This is a hands‑on role where your analytical skills and business acumen will shine. You'll lead monthly discussions with internal stakeholders, diving into performance metrics and uncovering trends that drive smarter decisions. Your work will ensure financial information is accurate, actionable, and aligned with business goals. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare, maintain, and update long‑term financial forecasts using established financial models.
  • Support the development of the annual budget and organizational strategic planning activities.
  • Perform period‑end reporting, reconciliation activities, and analysis to support timely and accurate financial close.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements related to reporting and forecasting.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to leadership.
  • Assist in drafting, updating, and maintaining financial policies, procedures, and documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Post‑secondary Business degree in Accounting or Finance required with a CPA or near completion (or 5 to 7+ years of relevant experience in a similar role).
  • 3‑5+ years of experience in accounting or financial analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience with financial audits, Cognos TM1, government contracts, or payroll (all considered assets).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Collaborative team player with strong attention to detail and data interpretation skills.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full‑time, in‑office presence.
