About the role

As an Accountant, you will manage day‑to‑day bookkeeping, month‑end close and financial operations of our companies. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial records, adhering to GAAP or IFRS standards, and support strategic decision‑making.

The successful candidate will work from Solen's Toronto offices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute day‑to‑day accrual accounting functions and prepare financial statements with a focus on accuracy.
  • Audit financial records regularly to identify discrepancies and maintain accurate bookkeeping.
  • Maintain precise records of all transactions, including deferred revenue, AP/AR, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) on schedule.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and IFRS.
  • Manage payroll and maintain accurate employee records.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and other financial professionals.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and support as required.
Specific Measures of Success – Expected Outcomes
  • Perform timely reconciliations of receivables and payables.
  • Reconcile prepaid and accrued line items accurately.
  • Track payroll taxes and employee reimbursements accurately.
  • Maintain accurate recurring revenue records and update deferred revenue entries.
  • Close books by the 30th of each month.
  • Deliver previous month financial statements by the 3rd of the following month.
Key Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS, with a focus on accuracy.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Google Sheets and accounting software such as Xero, Zoho, and QuickBooks.
  • Solid understanding of accrual accounting principles.
  • Experience with M&A accounting procedures and financial statement consolidation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail while maintaining speed.
  • ACA/ACCA/CPA/CIMA or equivalent qualification.
