Job Description

Retrokid is seeking a highly strategic and hands-on Finance Manager to lead and oversee all financial operations at our Canadian and US entity. This role is responsible for managing the full financial ecosystem of the business, including accounting systems, internal controls, bookkeeping, payroll, tax compliance (through a 3rd party agency), and corporate reporting. The Finance Manager will own the preparation and management of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, budgets, and cash flow forecasts, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and actionable insights. This role will also manage QuickBooks and QuickBooks Payroll and ensure all filings and reporting obligations are met in both Canada and the United States.

Beyond day-to-day financial management, this role serves as a key strategic partner to senior leadership, functioning as a financial steward of the company and helping guide major business decisions. The Finance Manager will conduct high-level financial analysis, support contract reviews, respond to information requests from leadership, and deliver monthly financial reporting to the CEO and VP. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with strategic business acumen and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.

This position plays a critical role in supporting Retrokid’s continued growth by driving financial clarity, improving operational efficiency, optimizing costs, and helping ensure long-term financial sustainability. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, and bring a collaborative approach to supporting cross-functional teams and company leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee accounting systems, internal controls, and bookkeeping
  • Manage external tax agency
  • Manage both Canadian and US reports (US company does not have any employees)
  • Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports, budgets, and cash flow forecasts
  • Manage Quickbooks and Quickbooks payroll
  • Coordinate with external accountants and legal advisors on filings and corporate reporting, both Canada & US
  • Contribute to contract reviews
  • Respond to information requests by the senior leadership team
  • Monthly reporting to CEO and VP
  • Through high-level financial analysis and forecasting, supports organizational growth, cost optimization, and long-term financial sustainability
Requirements and experience
  • Accounting designation with minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience
  • Experience working for or with an eCommerce-based organization, specializing in apparel and/or products
  • Experience budgeting pre-orders and overseas vendors
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach
  • Working within integrated or higher-level financial systems (e.g. software integration, process optimization) and contributing to the development of more efficient, cohesive financial processes
  • Ability to maintain a high standard of accuracy, professionalism and attention to detail

The candidate would ideally be located in the Greater Toronto Area where the senior team lives; however, this is not a requirement of the position.
