Qualifications

  • Valid Ontario Security License & First Aid & CPR Level C required.
  • One year of security experience is necessary.
  • Education in Police Foundations, Criminology, or related fields preferred.

Overview

As a Full‑Time Field Support Unit Guard, you will work at various sites across Burlington, Hamilton, Halton regions including industrial, retail, healthcare, and office buildings. This dynamic role requires flexibility and quick adaptability to different environments. Site assignments are provided shortly before each shift, so you must be ready to deploy. A reliable personal vehicle is required for travel between locations.

Position

Temporary Full-Time Field Support Unit (3 Months with possible extension)

Site: Various Sites - Burlington, Hamilton, Halton Regions

Shift: Continental Nights (1900 - 0700 hrs)

Payrate: $19.00/hr.

Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement after 88 hours

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular patrols at assigned sites, including industrial facilities, retail stores, healthcare settings, and office towers across Burlington, Oakville, Milton, and Georgetown, to ensure the safety and security of the premises.
  • Operate security systems such as CCTV cameras and alarm panels, and promptly report any suspicious or unauthorized activity to site management or appropriate authorities.
  • Monitor and control access to restricted areas, ensuring only authorized personnel are permitted entry in accordance with site‑specific protocols.
  • Respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies including medical incidents, fire alarms, alarms, or other security threats; assist staff and patrons during evacuations or critical incidents as required.
  • Greet and assist visitors, clients, staff, and tenants in a professional and courteous manner; provide directions and ensure compliance with site policies.
  • De‑escalate tense or disruptive situations, resolve conflicts professionally, and maintain a calm presence under pressure across various environments.
  • Accurately document site activities, incidents, and observations; complete incident reports, security logs, and breach documentation in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with on‑site personnel and local authorities to support a coordinated and effective security presence.
  • Enforce site‑specific policies and procedures; address violations in a manner consistent with safety and professionalism.
  • Travel between different site locations as assigned; own vehicle is required to meet shift and deployment expectations.
Requirements
  • Valid Ontario Security License & First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider
  • Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, Covid Vaccine two doses, and two step TB skin test
  • Must own a reliable vehicle
  • Fluent in English (oral and written)
  • Must have one year experience in security
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Education in Police Foundations, Criminology, PSI, or Border Services is considered an asset
  • Able to provide a clean shaven face in order to pass a N95 mask fit test
  • Ability to walk/climb stairs throughout the premises for longer periods of time
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position

Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre‑employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6‑month commitment to the position/availability.
