Position Summary:
This unique hybrid KeepStock / Branch role supports both business functions in a particular market. The Field Operations Associate will serve key customers both in the branch and on customer sites. All aspects of this role involve customer-facing activity, with a strong emphasis on agility and organization. The objective is to capitalize on sales/service opportunities, create customer loyalty, and exceed customer expectations by using guidance, knowledge, computer acumen, and a winning attitude. The individual will demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
In this hybrid part-time role, the individual will work in a Grainger Canada branch and on the road servicing customer accounts. In this part-time 24-hour per week role, this individual will work M-F approximately 4.5 hours per day.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities (You Will):
The duties and responsibilities of this position are categorized into two areas (KeepStock & Branch) and include, but are not limited to:
- Branch: Ownership of the entire customer experience, including appropriate product selection based on customer requirements, accurate order entry and maintenance, accurate picking of products, and safe loading of customer vehicles as needed.
- Branch: Consistently perform actions with a sales focus to capitalize on opportunities and encourage customer loyalty to achieve revenue targets.
- Branch: Promote Company products and services to customers and provide substitutions where required.
- Branch: Maintain well-rounded knowledge of products and tools sold, including completion of required certifications.
- Branch: Processing customer transactions.
- Branch: Providing customer updates on delivery, lead times, quotes, etc., as required.
- Branch: Management of vending machines and Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI).
- Branch: Collaborating with KS customers on program/product updates for vending/VMI programs.
- KeepStock: Service the customer’s specific needs (e.g., Vendor Managed Inventory, vending unit replenishment).
- KeepStock: Ensure proper product stocking levels at customer locations by scanning for orders as inventory is depleted.
- KeepStock: Oversee customer inventory locations ensuring proper labeling and quantities on hand.
- KeepStock: Meet regularly with key customer contacts to ensure needs are met and products are available, including scanning, put away and spot buys of products.
- KeepStock: Resolve customer problems promptly and accurately to retain loyalty.
- KeepStock: Follow designated customer routing as defined by routing software tools.
- KeepStock: Document standard operating procedures at customer locations to guide back-up resources and ensure continuity of service.
- KeepStock: Identify continuous improvement opportunities in productivity, process, and cycle time with sales and service activities.
- KeepStock: Comply with safety and inspection requirements of the facility where the service is provided.
Education/Experience (You Have):
- High school diploma
- 1-3 years’ experience in retail/selling or customer service (e.g., counter/retail sales, telephone, warehouse) environments
- Some flexibility required to working hours to accommodate branch operations
- Ability to safely learn and operate powered industrial equipment, forklift
- Successful and timely completion of initial and ongoing training as required
- Self-motivated, with high energy and dedication to customer service and sales growth
- Ability to effectively collaborate with tact and diplomacy with internal and external customers and cross-functional partners
- Demonstrated ability to apply strong judgment, independent problem-solving skills, and understanding of Grainger’s Core Value Proposition
- Handle various technical and operational issues
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Background checks and drug screening may be required (as warranted by company or customer requirements for on-site work or equipment operation)
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license in the province of residence
- May be required to use a personal vehicle for transportation meeting Grainger’s standards
- This role may require you to work at customers’ sites, with some customers having alcohol and drug screening policies for on-site contractors and vendors
- Must adhere to safety requirements and PPE on customer sites (hard hat, steel-toed boots, etc.). Details provided during recruitment
This position is hourly and pays between $24.47 - $28.00 and is bonus eligible. Salary factors include experience, qualifications, and geographic area.
