Description

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) is seeking a skilled Field Electronics Technician to support a U.S. Navy Foreign Military Sales (FMS) case and the Canadian Defence Force (CDF) Program Office in Ottawa.

This position is available only to Canadian citizens and will involve work in Canada.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in testing, maintaining, and repairing radar simulation pods and supporting military RF jamming pods and emitters used for air combat training.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform testing, maintenance, and repairs of Radar Simulation Pods in both lab environments and on various aircraft.
  • Install, diagnose, and verify electronic warfare equipment on a range of aircraft types.
  • Maintain safe work practices while operating in ramp/line environments, particularly in and around jet aircraft.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a team, working closely with other support entities.
  • Apply strong problem-solving skills and initiative with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Interpret and apply technical instructions accurately.
  • Execute and verify test plans and procedures for electronic systems.
  • Be proficient in the use of test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, multi-meters, and frequency generators, for calibration, troubleshooting, and testing.
  • Understand customer requirements and document work, issues, and system needs clearly.
  • Compile and tabulate test results using computer-based tools.
  • Support facility maintenance or other assigned tasks, as needed.
Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

Education Requirement:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and nine (9) years of related experience; a Bachelor's degree with five (5) or more years of CDF-related experience; a Master's degree with three (3) or more years of CDF-related experience.

Experience:

  • Practical experience with aircraft avionics systems and related electronics.
  • Hands-on expertise with the operation of test equipment for calibration, troubleshooting, and testing purposes.
  • Familiarity with engineering bench skills and military electronic test sets.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain a Canadian Secret Clearance (a Criminal Records Check is required).
  • A valid passport is an asset, as travel within Canada and the United States is expected.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules to support flight operations, which may occasionally require weekend or after-hours work.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certifications/Skills:
  • CDF Avionics Technician Certification or equivalent.
  • Communications & Radar Technician rating.
  • Calibration experience or practical soldering qualifications/experience.
  • Extensive avionics technical knowledge with a focus on radar and communication systems.
Work Schedule

This full-time position supports military flying operations and system maintenance activities. The typical work week is Monday to Friday, but monthly requirements may vary to align with flight operations.

Security Clearance

This position requires successful completion of a Criminal Records Check to obtain Government of Canada Level 2 Secret Clearance and Controlled Goods access.

Location Details

The role is based in Victoria, BC area. This position is in a lab environment but will include supporting flying operations.
