Overview

ERM is hiring Field Archaeologists to join our global consulting firm as part of our archaeology and cultural heritage team in Meaford, Ontario. The successful candidate will work with our team to complete archaeological field surveys. This is a full-time (50 hours per week), limited-term role for a duration of 2 months, with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee field studies, lead field reconnaissance, field surveys, and excavation for archaeological studies.
  • Visually inspecting the land surface for the presence of archaeological and historic built resources.
  • Compliance with corporate Health and Safety requirements.
  • Performing other duties as assigned or required.
  • Represent ERM through communications and at meetings with provincial / territorial and federal agencies.
Qualifications
  • A Degree in Anthropology (with a focus on archaeology) or in Archaeology.
  • Minimum of 1 year of archaeological survey and impact assessment experience.
  • Prior archaeological field school experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain.
  • Working knowledge of archaeological survey and impact assessment protocols.
  • Ability to work in the field for extended periods of time.
Pay and Benefits

Pay : For the Field Archaeologist position, we anticipate an annual base pay of $65,069 – $80,140, $31.28 / hour – $38.52 / hour CAD, with a limited-term, non-exempt status. The exact pay will be based on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business needs. Bonuses may be available in some cases.

Benefits eligibility is limited to regular employees scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week. Fixed-Term employees who are regularly scheduled to work 20 hours a week or more are eligible for a limited benefits package. Casual employees are NOT benefits eligible.
