Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a Family Physician!

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a 0.4 FTE family physician for the Pender Community Health Centre for a Locum position from September 1, 2025 to September 15, 2026.

Pender Community Health Centre, located at 59 W Pender Street in Vancouver, provides primary care services to residents of Vancouver with complex medical, psychosocial, and addiction needs, requiring a higher intensity of services to maintain functional stability. Clients are supported to transition to less intensive service settings as their stability improves.

Applicants should have a Canadian College of Family Physicians (CCFP) designation (or eligibility) and current CMPA coverage. Eligibility for a faculty appointment with the University of British Columbia, School of Medicine is an asset. A current Opioid Agonist Treatment prescriber exemption or willingness to obtain one is mandatory.

The candidate will approach care by:

  • Providing team-based care with an interdisciplinary team (NP/MD/RN/SW/allied health).
  • Offering substance use services, assessments, supports, and opiate agonist treatment.
  • Delivering trauma-informed care to clients with complex health needs (e.g., HIV, Hep C, mental health/substance use) and psychosocial challenges.
  • Working a predictable weekday schedule with participation in a call schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Providing outreach or home visits as needed within the team.
  • Engaging in proactive chronic disease management utilizing EMR supports, PSP supports, QI initiatives, and maximizing interdisciplinary team roles.
  • Participating in team engagement events and educational opportunities to enhance practice and outcomes.
Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) registration - Full license
  • Mandatory CMPA coverage
