The Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre is seeking a Family Mentor for Isobel’s Place, which provides a nurturing and safe environment for pregnant adolescent parents to acquire skills to make informed decisions for themselves and their children. Programming supports the capacities of children, parent, family and community through interactive learning experiences. The Family Mentor is responsible for maintaining and promoting the wellbeing, uniqueness and independence of each youth, including but not limited to providing physical care, menu planning and meal preparation, medication administration, day-to-day house management and documentation. The Family Mentor supports participants by promoting involvement with family, friends, advocates and other stakeholders. The Family Mentor also encourages participants to develop individual skills, talents and abilities while maintaining health and safety requirements. Isobel’s Place is a residential care facility that operates 24 hours a day, seven days per week.

Responsibilities
  • Provide physical care for participants as part of daily care requirements.
  • Plan menus and prepare meals for participants.
  • Administer medications as required and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Assist with day-to-day house management and related documentation.
  • Promote involvement with family, friends, advocates and other stakeholders.
  • Encourage the development of individual skills, talents and abilities while maintaining health and safety.
  • Support the wellbeing, uniqueness and independence of each youth.
  • Operate in a 24/7 residential care setting as part of the Isobel’s Place program.

  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Must provide current (within the last three months) Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector search, Child Abuse Registry check and be subject to a Prior Contact Check.
