Are you passionate about reconciliation through education, community-engaged curriculum development, and ethical northern research? YukonU wants to hear from you. We are seeking an Education faculty member with an established research portfolio who is deeply committed to decolonial teaching, learning, and unlearning practices and enthusiastic about program development.

The Opportunity

YukonU is at an exciting stage in its evolution. Through our Strategic Plan, Academic Plan, and Reconciliation Framework, we are committed to providing Yukoners and northerners with more postsecondary options close to home. This will include the development of a made-in-Yukon Education degree. The successful candidate will lead program development, in addition to providing high-quality learning experiences to students and engaging in research and scholarly activities relevant to the North.

Tell us Your Story

Qualifications for this opportunity include:

  • Doctoral degree in Education or related field;
  • Strong scholarly and/or creative activity in the field of Education, preferably in partnership with Indigenous, northern, or rural/remote communities;
  • Previous postsecondary teaching experience; and
  • Demonstrated commitment to service work, whether within a university context or through community engagement.

Prior experience in any of the following areas will be considered assets:

  • K-12 teaching experience, preferably within a Yukon, northern, and/or rural/remote context;
  • Mentoring developmental faculty and/or emerging scholars;
  • Teaching Indigenous students and/or students in remote communities;
  • Curriculum development and program assessment; and/or
  • Teaching through distance-education technologies.
