Scope

The Facility Caretaker is responsible for ensuring all areas of the main office areas and grounds are maintained at a high level of cleanliness, orderliness and in a safe condition.

Key responsibilities
  • Maintains a high standard of cleanliness in offices, areas, lunchrooms, bathrooms and general building areas.
  • Cleans office areas including vacuuming, washing floors, dusting, emptying garbage and recycling, etc.
  • Cleans and disinfects washrooms, sinks, toilets and stocks supplies.
  • Cleans and disinfects lunchrooms, floors, tables and fridges and stocks supplies.
  • Cleans sinks and boot sanitizer at production entrances.
  • Dusts windowsills, desks, photocopiers, shelving and other fixtures.
  • Washes walls and windows as required.
  • Cleans general grounds ensuring there is no garbage or debris on grounds.
  • Maintains inventory of required supplies and requests reorder when needed.
  • If required, assists with clearing snow, sanding and salting building entrances, sidewalks and stairways.
  • Carrying out minor maintenance such as unplugging toilets, oiling hinges, maintaining caretaking equipment (e.g., check/clean machines, filters, vacuum bags).
  • If required, assist Production department with processing or packaging activities.
  • Recognizes hazardous, unsafe and quality-related issues and raises them with their Supervisor.
  • Other tasks within the scope of their training assigned by their Supervisor.

Qualifications
  • Previous Building cleaning experience
  • Must possess a good knowledge of cleaning procedures and products
  • Exhibit well developed intercommunication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and organize tasks and set priorities to ensure job completion.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
  • Must possess experience in the safe operation and basic equipment such as a vacuum cleaner, carpet extractors, power scrubber, etc.
Working conditions
  • Working indoors with some outdoor work as required.
  • Must be physically capable of performing the duties as assigned
  • Must go into production areas for general cleaning
  • Must be able to complete established job-related training programs such as WHMIS, MSDS, etc.
  • Interacts with team members and management
  • Work hours: 16 to 24 hours per week; hours are flexible.
