Job description

Terms : Permanent, Part-Time (8-24 hours per week)

Start Date : As soon as possible

Salary : $18.90 per hour

Reports To : Director, Facility Services

Nature & Scope :

Reporting to the Facility Services Director, this front line position will work as part of the Facility Services team to perform a variety of tasks including but not limited to repair and preventative maintenance assignments to the building and equipment, trash collection and removal, general cleaning, supply stocking, receiving deliveries, snow removal, and upkeep of exterior grounds.

Major Responsibilities :

  • To perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Kamloops YMCA policies, standards and procedures as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor and / or Facility Services Director
  • Observes for damage, etc., and reports to supervisor items needing attention
  • Makes simple repairs and adjustments; completion of cleaning and maintenance duties as set out for each shift in the Preventative Maintenance Schedule
  • Monitoring of building mechanical equipment and in the absence of maintenance supervisor, correcting of any malfunction immediately, or contacting the Director or supervisor so repairs can be made
  • Monitoring of Pool and WP chemical readings and recording these in the log book, making any necessary adjustments to chemical levels, monitoring chemical tank levels and refilling as required
  • Ensuring that proper closing and locking procedures are practiced each night
  • Ensuring that all areas are maintained at or above Health and Safety Regulations and Priority SAM Standards at all times
  • Completing assigned maintenance and cleaning duties at the main facility and or other branch sites as directed by the supervisor or Director
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as required

Requirements :

  • A combination of experience and training related to building maintenance and aquatic operations.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance, equipment maintenance and cleaning practices an asset.
  • A minimum of grade 12 diploma or equivalent, additional vocational training will be considered an asset.
  • Current BCRPA Pool Operations Level 1 certificate or willingness to complete within 6 months of employment start.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification or willingness to complete within 6 months of employment start.
  • Ability to meet & maintain the ongoing physical needs (walking, standing, lifting, push / pull, etc.) of the job, in all types of climates (indoor & outdoor).
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference
  • Check / Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date
  • 3 professional references
