Exploration, Core Shack Technician (Fixed-Term Contract)

IAMGOLD is hiring 2 local team members to support exciting gold exploration activities in the Chibougamau region. This six‑month contract offers a hands‑on opportunity to contribute to drilling programs, geological mapping, and seasonal surveys, all while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

As a Core Shack Technician, you will be at the heart of our exploration efforts. Your days will include:

• Receiving and processing drill core.
• Preparing samples for assay.
• Maintaining a clean and organized core shack.
• Assisting with fieldwork such as mapping, prospecting, and vehicle operation.
• Supporting geologists with various tasks as needed.

Safety is a shared responsibility. You will follow IAMGOLD’s safety protocols, use proper PPE, report hazards, and participate in regular safety meetings.

This role offers flexibility and is suitable for both local and remote candidates. Residents of Chibougamau, Chapais, or Oujé‑Bougoumou enjoy a consistent 5/2 schedule with daily commute. Those from Waswanipi or other remote areas receive rotational schedules and comfortable camp accommodation. You will be part of a dynamic team, contributing to exciting projects across Quebec and gaining valuable experience in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

To be successful, you will need:

• Enrollment in a geotechnical program and certifications such as First Aid and CPR are also helpful.
