Qualifications

As a Cook at Tyax Lodge and Heliskiing you will work under the direction of our Executive Chef and be a part of a close knit team. You will execute the high quality food production and service provided from the resort culinary team. This position has a wide scope of culinary duties throughout its working day and offers a diverse experience.

JOB HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Works under the direction of the Culinary Leadership to execute meal services and prepare high quality menu items.
  • Ensures adherence to all culinary standards set out by Tyax Lodge and Heliskiing's leadership.
  • Prepare and cook food for our a la carte menu and on occasions for special events including family style and buffet.
  • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.
  • Works under the Chefs to perform food prep and cooks on the line.
  • Ensures proper handling of all food products, including reducing waste.
  • Ensures a great guest experience is created by their work within the culinary team.
  • Maintains set standards around Health and Safety.
  • Maintenance and deep cleaning of the kitchen and equipment.
  • Assisting with dishwashing when necessary.
  • Contributing to the execution of the staff meal program.
  • Meet production schedules and timelines.
QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES:
  • 2-4 years of previous experience in the culinary field in a high quality well rounded kitchen environment
  • Diploma/Certification in a culinary discipline
  • Must have Safe Food Handling certificate
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Must possess strong verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills and be a team player.
  • Responsible, dependable and available to work all shifts including mornings, nights, holidays and weekends.
  • Must be able to work under pressure, in a fast-paced environment, have good time management skills and excellent attention to detail,
  • Must be self-disciplined with a sincere desire to provide excellent customer service.
  • A strong willingness to learn and develop one’s skills.
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Will be required to be on your feet for extended periods of time
  • May be required to lift up to 70lbs
