Overview

Executive Director, People and Culture – JUST HR

JUST HR is recruiting for an Executive Director, People and Culture for a leading philanthropic organization in the healthcare sector. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, this individual will join the Executive Team and lead all aspects of human resources and talent strategy. The Executive Director will steward organizational culture, develop the leadership team, and ensure the organization remains a high-performing, inclusive, and values-driven workplace.

This is a collaborative leadership position for a seasoned HR generalist who combines strategic insight with hands-on expertise across the full employee lifecycle. The successful candidate will advance employee engagement, strengthen leadership capability, and design programs that attract, develop, and retain top talent in support of the organization’s mission, growth, and impact.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the President & CEO and Senior Management Team on all HR-related matters.
  • Champion an inclusive, respectful, and purpose-driven workplace culture.
  • Lead initiatives to strengthen the leadership team, enhance organizational capability, and foster employee engagement.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and career development programs.
  • Provide guidance on compensation, benefits, and total rewards strategies.
  • Ensure HR policies and practices are compliant with employment legislation.
  • Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations with fairness and integrity.
  • Optimize HR systems, tools, and processes to improve efficiency and service delivery.
  • Use data and analytics to inform decision-making and workforce planning.
Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, with strong HR generalist expertise.
  • Proven success in developing leadership teams and implementing HR strategy in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Professional certification such as CHRP, CHRL, or HCS is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and partner effectively with executives and boards.
  • Skilled in negotiation, mediation, conflict resolution, and employee relations.

Remuneration
  • Base salary : CA$165,000 – CA$180,000 per year
