A major mining company in Northeastern Ontario is seeking an experienced Environmental Specialist to oversee environmental compliance and promote safety. You will manage data analysis for pollutant inventories and ensure adherence to regulations while maintaining environmental management systems. The ideal candidate has a degree related to environmental disciplines and three years of relevant experience. Accommodations and meals are provided on site. This role operates on a 14/14 work schedule.
Reporting to the Environmental Supervisor, you will be part of the Environment Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.
Report writing, analytical data analysis experience;
Environment Management System (EMS) implementation and management, including maintaining site aspects and impacts registry;
Coordinate data collection for National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) and Green House Gas (GHG) emissions;
Maintain compliance with all regulatory, permit, monitoring, and reporting requirements;
Maintain EQuIS data management database, including various EQuIS Modules (Collect, SPM, Professional, Enterprise).
Coordinate with external laboratories for sample supplies and analysis;
Compiling and statistically analyzing environmental data for presentation in internal and external reports and trend analysis.
Management plan development and review;
Perform inspections of work sites to identify environmental risks;
Promote site awareness of environmental requirements and conditions for operations; Provide support to department heads on the inclusion of environmental consideration in work plans;
Create, update and maintain standard operating procedures.
Degree in a field related to Environmental Engineering, Science or other environmental discipline;
Three (3) years of related work experience;
Extensive knowledge of Canadian and Ontario legislation relevant to the mining industry;
Advanced MS Suite skills, and EQuIS considered an asset;
Experience and knowledge in database management and environmental management systems.

Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
