THE OPPORTUNITY:

Our Engineering teams are currently seeking candidates for multiple 2026 Co-op Student positions across our Production, Completions, Operations Planning, and Data Analytics groups. These positions are based in Calgary with possible travel to field locations on occasion.

These dynamic positions will provide the successful candidates with an excellent opportunity to continue to learn about the western Canadian oil & gas industry as well as further develop their petroleum engineering skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Production

  • Collaborate with Senior Production Engineers as well as various Operations staff, including Field personnel, to complete engineering studies related to the development and optimization of oil and gas wells
  • Assist in well file reviews to identify production optimization opportunities and assist in the planning, design, and execution of these opportunities
  • Work on operating cost saving initiatives to improve operational efficiency of processing equipment and wells
  • Calculate facility capacities to understand where potential bottlenecks are when planning future drilling

Completions

  • Compile ARC completions data and conduct lookbacks on technology trials in an effort to improve capital efficiency
  • Complete competitor drilling and completions activity review specific for Montney activity
  • Prepare fracture communication mitigation plans for single and pad completions
  • Assist Completions Engineers in well file reviews and programming well completions, reviewing and summarizing technical literature and new technologies, and in data preparation and analysis on technical projects


Operations Planning

  • Collaborate with Water Engineers, Development Engineers, Production Engineers and Field Operations to evaluate projects that help improve ARC’s water strategy and leading ESG performance
  • Support the Water Engineering team in planning and designing operations, reporting, cost analysis and continuous improvement objectives
  • Collaborate with the evaluation of de-salination and evaporation projects
  • Primary projects that this role will be tasked with evaluating in addition to the day-to-day support of the Water team are:
    • Evaluation of the economic potential of connecting sites to the power grid in lieu of rental power generation
    • Evaluation of permanent infrastructure to reduce long term water costs
    • Other projects are available pending ambition and ability

Data Analytics

  • Engage with a multidisciplinary team ofDevelopers, Analysts, Engineers, and Geoscientiststo perform comprehensivedata analysis
  • Develop and implementanalytical toolsandmodelsto derive insights that support decision-making across various projects
  • Utilizevisualization toolslike Spotfire and Power BI to create impactful data representations and dashboards
  • Write and optimizeSQL queriesandPython scriptsto manipulate and analyze complex datasets
  • Demonstrate acurious mindsetby exploring data to uncover trends, patterns, and stories that inform business strategies
  • Participate inknowledge-sharing sessionsto learn from and contribute to the collective expertise of the team
  • Support the creation of acollaborative environmentwhere data-driven insights lead to innovative solutions

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO ARC:

  • These positions are ideally suited for third or fourth year students enrolled in aBachelor of Science in Engineering in Mechanical, Petroleum, Chemical, or a related degree and are returning to school the following term
  • Experience with leading and contributing to technical projects, including scheduling, delegation, and management of activities
  • Innate curiosityand the ability tonarrate stories through data, demonstrating how numbers can drive business improvements and innovation
  • Strong computer and data analysis skills are considered an asset
  • Intermediate MS Office/365 skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint and prior experience with industry related software and visualization tools is considered an asset
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills and can develop positive working relationships with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities at the same time in a dynamic environment
  • Petroleum industry related experience will be considered an asset
