Overview

The Electrical Engineer II/III is responsible for executing ElectricalSystems engineering assignments on new construction projects at Seaspan Shipyards. Under the direction of the Manager, Electrical Systems, or their delegate, the Electrical Systems Engineer participates in all phases of new construction design projects including requirements decomposition, design preparations, supporting analysis, material selection and specification, engineering execution, and engineering close-out activities.

What you will be doing
  • Provides engineering and design support in assigned areas of Electrical Power Systems by preparing design and calculation packages to ensure contract design requirements are met.
  • Develops design documents such as Electrical Load Lists, Electrical Single Line Diagrams, Cable Diagrams, Instrumentation and Controls Lists, Interface control diagrams, termination and wiring diagrams.
  • Route Cables in 3D model environment
  • Reviews the Ship 3D model for integration of equipment and cable
  • Develops material specifications and bills of material in accordance with Seaspan material strategies and customer requirements.
What you must have
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • 4+ years of post-secondary experience in Electrical, controls and instrumentation Engineering is vital.
  • Experience working in a heavy industry environment is required. Shipyard experience is desirable
  • Experience working with a diverse integrated project team is considered an asset.
  • Technical knowledge and engineering skills.
  • PC proficiency required. Solid understanding of basic Microsoft Office 2010 software suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to develop solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Above average analytical skills to gather and analyze/synthesize data, confirming its accuracy and adequacy as an integral part of the collective analysis/synthesis process.
  • Strong technical writing skills including the ability to produce and present clear, detailed written technical specifications, procedures, and reports.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Committed to a high standard of safety and able to align with all safety laws and all of the employer’s safety policies and rules.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and influence skills and practices.
  • Provides mentoring and technical advice to subordinate Engineers in the department
  • Exercise good judgments and make decisions in a manner consistent with the crucial job functions
Salary/Rate Range

$43.00 -$53.00per hour
