Job summary

SONOCO CANADA is seeking an Electro-Mechanic in Terrebonne who will perform preventative maintenance on thermoforming machines and ensure that auxiliary equipment is operational. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and electrical understanding and experience with machine shop equipment. This role requires effective communication in both French and English, with comprehensive training available to facilitate wage progression after initial training.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager as an Electro-Mechanic, you will work closely with lead process technicians to coordinate machine downtime for routine preventative maintenance on thermoforming machines.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on thermoforming machines.
• Ensure auxiliary equipment such as chillers, compressors, and HVAC systems are operational.
• Use all necessary hand tools required for maintenance activities.
• Ensure safety guards are functional on all machinery.
• Coordinate with lead process technicians to schedule downtime for maintenance.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical systems, and machine functions.
• Experience with machine shop equipment such as mills, grinders, welders, and band saws.
• In-depth knowledge of compressors, chillers, and HVAC systems.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from schematics and shop orders.
• Excellent record-keeping skills related to production activities.
