We have an immediate opportunity for an Electrical Engineer with thorough knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, and methods related to Transmission and Distribution engineering principles. This position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for gathering and evaluating line data of transmission, sub-transmission, distribution systems, transformer test data, and generator data. Utilizing Modell systems on appropriate software tools, such as CAPE.
- Experience performing short circuit studies while protecting coordinated studies necessary for completing relay settings, performing relay settings, preparing protection summaries, and coordinating relay settings with neighboring utilities and other authorities as required assignments meeting WECC and NERC PRC compliance.
- Responsible for issuing Substation Relays and field Auto Recloser settings (GE, SEL and Electromagnetic) through ASPEN relay database to field.
- Support Test technicians in servicing or commissioning relay settings. Support and communicate with Test technicians for making revisions/changes to relay settings as required.
- Experience performing system studies to provide protection requirements by design.
- Responsible for designing protective relay systems to ensure the safety and reliability of the grid by reviewing AC/DC/Logic drawings.
- Will be responsible for reviewing and signing off one-line, elementary logic diagrams and work with all other engineers supporting this department.
- Develop and peer-reviewed protective relay settings for systems ranging from 12kV to 765kV, demonstrating deep technical knowledge across a wide voltage spectrum.
- Previously led and executed short circuit studies and designed step distance and pilot protection schemes for 44-100kV lines, ensuring system reliability and compliance with FAC-008/NERC/IEEE/ICE/ANSI standards.
